A carbon footprint represents the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with an organisation’s activities. It is a key indicator of environmental impact and an important tool for managing sustainability. A carbon footprint includes not only direct emissions from a company’s operations, but also indirect emissions associated with purchased energy consumption, transport, business travel and the supply chain. Taking a comprehensive view of all significant emission sources helps provide a clearer understanding of an organisation’s overall environmental impact.
ASEKOL regularly monitors and assesses its carbon footprint. Quantifying it regularly enables us to better understand emission sources, set priorities for reducing emissions and make data-driven decisions. Measuring our carbon footprint also forms part of our voluntary ESG reporting and supports a transparent approach to sustainability.
💡 A carbon footprint is reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (t CO₂e). This measure accounts not only for CO₂ emissions, but also for other greenhouse gases, such as methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O), converted according to their impact on climate change. This makes it possible to objectively compare the environmental impacts of different activities and track how they change over time.
