From 27 August to 3 September 2026, CANON CZ held another edition of its popular ECO WEEK competition. Organised by the ASEKOL compliance scheme in partnership with CANON, this awareness-raising initiative aimed to encourage the responsible handling of end-of-life electrical appliances and raise awareness of their proper sorting and recycling.
The ECO WEEK competition gives employees a practical way to put these principles into action – by collecting end-of-life electrical equipment and taking part in educational activities and quizzes focusing on the proper handling of e-waste.
CANON CZ has long been committed to sustainability, as reflected in its partnership with the ASEKOL compliance scheme, which now spans more than 20 years. This year’s event produced tangible, measurable results. Together, CANON CZ employees collected 760 kg of end-of-life electrical equipment, which was handed over for professional treatment and recycling.
760 kg of e-waste and tangible savings
The environmental benefits of professionally processing the 760 kg of end-of-life electrical equipment collected can be expressed in terms of the following estimated savings:
These figures clearly illustrate the importance of recycling electrical equipment for the circular economy. Professional treatment allows materials contained in end-of-life electrical equipment to be returned to circulation.
Commenting on this year’s ECO WEEK, Daniel Šafář, ASEKOL’s Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Our partnership with CANON, spanning more than 20 years, shows that its responsible approach to e-waste is not merely an obligation, but an integral part of its corporate culture and day-to-day operations. We are delighted that ECO WEEK continues to be so popular. Throughout ECO WEEK, employees traditionally collect end-of-life electrical appliances, and this year 760 kilograms were handed over for recycling. Thank you for your cooperation – we greatly appreciate your commitment.”
For CANON CZ, ECO WEEK provides an opportunity to connect its corporate sustainability principles with practical action by its employees. Commenting on this year’s results, Eva Kučmášová, CCMS Senior Manager, added: “ECO WEEK is a tangible example of circular economy principles in practice. The electrical equipment collected provides a valuable source of materials that can be returned to circulation through recycling, while also reducing the demand for primary raw materials. We greatly value our long-standing partnership with ASEKOL, which enables us to put these principles into practice in an environmentally responsible way and see tangible results.”
We would like to thank CANON CZ for its long-standing partnership and its employees for their active participation. We look forward to further joint projects raising awareness and promoting the responsible management of e-waste.
